Company description:: WestQuay, Southampton and The Oracle, Reading, UK, both see between 14 and 16 million customers walk on their floors each year. With both regional shopping destinations located in the UK's top ten of city centres for retail; it is imperative that the companies responsible for cleaning the floors of these centres, both suppliers and contractors, do the job to the highest quality, safety and hygiene standards.
WestQuay, Southampton and The Oracle, Reading, has recently selected Cleanfix UK Ltd as their approved supplier of floor cleaning machines, after Cleanfix (www.cleanfix.co.uk) won the tender for equipment for both sites.
Part of the tender process was the acceptance of Cleanfix's revolutionary new Golden Assurance System (www.goldenassurance.com) in supporting WestQuay, Southampton, and The Oracle, Reading. Both sites will be running the Golden Assurance System, - accessible via mobile phone, hand-held computer and the web - gives operations directors and contract cleaning managers instant and secure access to machines and assets in real-time, using www.cleanfixextra.net.
The system has been developed by Cleanfix to provide their clients with total control and full ownership of their machines and assets, through the use of mobile and web technology.
NIC Services Group, the company responsible for using Cleanfix machines to clean both sites, are already using The Golden Assurance system, and were keen to recommend this innovative approach to their clients.
As a result, Penny Hows, Operations Manager for The Oracle, Reading and WestQuay, Southampton, is running the cleaning operations of the two sites using a Sony 800 (hand held personal computer) to log-in to www.cleanfixextra.net. This gives Penny total control of the sites without even having to be there in person.
"The Golden Assurance system is about speed,” says Penny. “It's quick, and the information you need is there in an instant as a back up, which can all be shown instantly to the client if necessary. No more waiting.”
With the Golden Assurance, managers can get an instant overview of what’s been done, by whom, with which machine, simply by viewing a one-page summary, while other staff can access all they need to ensure smooth-running of operations from all corners. Everything is there for all to see, from service reports and repair requests to the exact locations of machines and e-mails to and from all users of the system.
Running a Complex Cleaning Spec
“The sheer size or The Oracle, Reading and WestQuay, Southampton make them hard to clean,” says Penny.
A river runs through the middle of one side of the Reading site, making concrete slab cleaning difficult. And that’s where Cleanfix comes in.
Says Peter Affleck, Sales Director for Cleanfix UK Ltd, “Cleanfix are supplying a range of machines for this project, having walked the site and looked at the flowline, there are a number of types of cleaning required that need a range of different cleaning applications.”
One Stop Reliability
Reliability, safety, and hygiene are always central issues for projects as demanding as this, as floors need to be and look clean with no slippery surfaces. Uniquely, Cleanfix has provided a janitory scrubber dryer for the food court to replace the unhygienic mop that is so often used. – just one of the different types of machine provided.
West Quay, Southampton and The Oracle, Reading, also liked that Cleanfix could provide a one stop shop - with all machines sourced from one manufacturer, plus cleaning training provided by Cleanfix at their HQ in Romsey. Personnel will be trained to BICS level, with ongoing training leading to NVQ qualifications for staff at both sites.
"The Cleanfix machines seem more economical and reliable,” Penny explains. “We need reliability, speed and to clean large areas over a short span of time, so the machines we use need to be economical and efficient with no breakdowns. We need various different machines to always be up and running, as we have no spare ones to fall back on."
And with 2million visitors treading their feet over the floors of West Quay, Southampton and The Oracle, Reading, last Christmas, the job of keeping those floors clean and safe is in the right hands.
